日本・イタリア関係大学合同スプリングスクール『BioMed 2026』

　イタリアの大学と本学をはじめとする日本の大学との合同スプリングスクール『BioMed 2026』 が、2026年4月13日（月）から15日（水）までの3日間にわたり開催されました。昨年の初回開催の成功を受け、今回も日本とイタリアの主要大学・研究機関から研究者、教員、学生が集まり、学術協力の強化、学際的な対話の促進、そして長期的な国際関係の構築を共通の目的として参加しました。

　第2回となる今回のスプリングスクールは、科学的交流と文化的相互理解の場としての価値を改めて示すものとなりました。前年8月にイタリアで開催されたサマースクールに続き、2026年は日本での開催となり、両国が交互に主催する形式を継続することで、バランスの取れた参加と相互交流が実現しました。

　また、本イベントは日本とイタリアの国交樹立160周年という節目の年に開催されたことから、学術的な集まりであると同時に、両国の長年にわたる友好関係を祝う象徴的な機会ともなりました。科学研究における協力が、二国間関係のさらなる強化に寄与することを示す場ともなりました。

　本イベントには、本学の他、摂南大学、ヴェネツィア・カ・フォスカリ大学、サン・カミッロIRCCS病院、フェッラーラ大学などが参加しました。プログラムでは、幅広いバイオメディカル分野を対象とした研究発表、テーマ別セッション、ディスカッションが行われ、新たな研究領域、学際的アプローチ、先端的分析技術の活用に特に焦点が当てられました。

　初日は摂南大学（枚方キャンパス3号館「Medix Hall」）にて開会挨拶、基調講演、研究発表が行われ、今後の議論に向けた協力的な雰囲気が築かれました。参加者は自身の研究を紹介し、フィードバックを受け、建設的な学術交流を行いました。

　2日目と3日目は関西医科大学（医学部棟「加多乃講堂」）にて、研究者や大学院生による専門性の高いセッションが続きました。これらの発表は、研究者が国際的な場で研究成果を発信し、プレゼンテーション能力を高める貴重な機会となりました。

　さらに、学術プログラムに加えて、ネットワーキングや文化交流の機会も設けられ、参加者同士が様々な場で交流を深めることができました。これらの活動は、相互理解を促進し、形式的なセッションを超えた協力関係の構築に大きく貢献しました。

　盛況のうちに閉会した、合同スプリングスクール『BioMed 2026』 は、学術交流の深化と参加機関間の連携強化という目的を達成しました。バイオメディカル研究と教育の発展における国際協力の重要性を示し、今後の継続的な取り組みに向けた確かな基盤を築くものとなりました。

Japan–Italy Joint Spring School “BioMed 2026”

The Japan–Italy Joint Spring School “BioMed 2026” was successfully held over three days, from Monday, April 13 to Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Building on the success of its inaugural edition last year, this initiative once again brought together researchers, faculty members, and students from leading institutions in Japan and Italy, with the shared objective of strengthening academic collaboration, promoting interdisciplinary dialogue, and fostering lasting international relationships.

This second edition of the Spring School confirmed the value of the program as a platform for scientific exchange and cultural interaction. Following the Summer School organized in Italy in August of the previous year, the 2026 edition was hosted in Japan, continuing the alternating structure that ensures balanced participation and mutual engagement between the two countries.

The event held particular symbolic significance as it coincided with the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Italy. In this context, the Spring School served not only as an academic gathering but also as a meaningful celebration of the longstanding ties between the two nations, highlighting the role of scientific cooperation in further strengthening bilateral relations.

Participants included representatives from Setsunan University, Kansai Medical University, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, San Camillo IRCCS Hospital, and the University of Ferrara. The program featured a rich and diverse agenda encompassing scientific presentations, thematic sessions, and interactive discussions covering a broad spectrum of topics in biomedicine. Particular emphasis was placed on emerging areas of research, interdisciplinary approaches, and the integration of advanced analytical techniques in medical science.

The first day of the event, held at Setsunan University (Hirakata Campus, Building 3, “Medix Hall”), was dedicated to opening remarks, keynote lectures, and initial research presentations. The sessions provided an overview of ongoing projects and established a collaborative tone for the days to follow. Participants had the opportunity to present their work, receive feedback, and engage in constructive academic dialogue.

The second and third days took place at Kansai Medical University (Faculty of Medicine Building, “Katano Hall”), where the program continued with more specialized sessions, including oral presentations by researchers and graduate students. These sessions encouraged active participation and allowed scholars to showcase their research while developing presentation and communication skills in an international setting.

In addition to the academic program, the Spring School included several networking opportunities and cultural exchange activities designed to promote interaction among participants. These moments proved essential in strengthening personal connections, enhancing mutual understanding, and fostering a collaborative spirit that extended beyond the formal sessions.

The Japan–Italy Joint Spring School “BioMed 2026” achieved its objectives of deepening academic exchange and reinforcing partnerships between participating institutions.
